Peach County's Newest Fire Engines have Arrived

 (KNS) Peach County> Saturday, September 12, six Peach County Firemen departed on a 1,258 mile journey to Lyons, South Dakota to take delivery of two new fire engines.
 
Chief Jeff Doles. Assistant Chief Tim Bechtel, Tony Norrell, Todd Bryan, Alan Whittington and Maxie Gray drove in two vehicles to pick up the two engines at the factory where they were manufactured. The firefighters returned to Peach County on Thursday morning at 1:45 AM. The total miles traveled was 2,578 miles.
 
The trucks are identical - equipped with 1,000 gallon capacity water tanks, capable of pumping 1,250 gallons a minute. Engine 3 will be stationed at Station 3 on Willow Lake Road. Engine 6 will be stationed at the soon to be built Station 6 on Highway 341 North next to the new Elementary School. Land for this new station was donated by the Peach County Board of Education.
 
Engine 6 and the new Fire/EMS Station 6 are being paid for with 2008 SPLOST funds. Engine 3 is being funded through the 2009 Annual Budget.
 
Accdording to Chief Jeff Doles, "The new fire engines like their new home, just fine."
