Khoury-Faccento Victory Garden

When my political career ended, many people told me that as one door in my life closed, another window of opportunity would open to take its place. I have decided that the window that has opened for me is gardening. It has been a blessing to channel my efforts into something else that I enjoy.

This garden is a joint garden with Debbie Faccento, my neighbor across the street. We both have a desire to see things grow. Since the Faccentos had the necessary sunlight in their backyard and I don't, the decision was made to build the raised beds in their yard.

Twenty-five raised beds were constructed out of discarded lumber. The soil was basically free, consisting of well composted horse manure and sand. We have taken the word recycling and green to a new level. Altogether we have less than $100 in this joint venture.

Not only is it rewarding to see everything growing, it will help us with our grocery bills later on. It certainly has been good for our mental psyche.

We have already harvested Red potatoes and radishes. Get ready for the Khoury-Faccento Curb Market....
