Letters to the editor
James,
As the old cheer
goes, "who do we appreciate?", I want to say "thank you" to the 3 of you for the
wonderful idea of a GREENWAVE for our symbol of our memories of Fort Valley High
School. I know that the memorial will be done in good taste and in an excellent
fashion because I know the artist....my little brother, Al Pearson. It will be
right....in placement, beauty and symbol.
I want to
remember with love and affection 2 of my closest friends, Stafford Rooks and
Jody Hardeman. Bill and I want to be a part of making this excellent idea a
reality for all of our memories of those that have meant so
much.
You are an
excitement generator! Thanks so much.

I am absolutely
in favor of a GREENWAVE Memorial and I will definitely make a
contribution. Lots of great memories from the days spent at FVHS (i.e.
1962 Football State Champs). Also, Gayle and Tommy, if you are reading
this column, I most certainly want to be included in the
reunion.

James,
I am curious as
to the answer to Mr. Hardeman’s question, listed below. Assuming you guys
will have the approval of the School Board, and will be satisfied with the
future status of the Knoxville
street school property before constructing a monument
on it, tell me where to send my
check.

Bill,
The memorial will be placed on
the school property, either on the Knoxville side or the Riley Avenue side (in
the circle).
About a month ago the Board of
Education has deeded over the old high school property to the Main Street/Fort
Valley Downtown Development Authority.
The DDA is working with a
private company to convert the school into a senior citizen retirement complex.
The company is receptive to helping us with this memorial project and has agreed
to contribute to the landscaping.

Dear
James,
The class of 1964
is busy making plans for our 45th class reunion. There are two class
members that we have not located. Anyone that has information on the
whereabouts of Robert Raymond Courtney
(Bob) or Karran Ann
Stripling, please contact Ellen Anderson Whitmer at ellenwhitmer@msn.com . Your help will
be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi James... I'm just
catching up with email and wanted to thank you and the committee so very
much for all the work, time and effort you have put into our
FVHS "Greenwave" memorial project. I have thanked Debbie
personally and have forwarded your email to our 1967 Class members ...
please tell Al his "Greenwave" is awesome and that we appreciate his work and
his talent so much. And thank you, James, for everything you do for
FVHS and for the entire community.
May our
beloved "FVHS Greenwaves" live forever !!

Thanks for putting me on
your mailing list. I'm still trying to find more old photos to put in my album
on the www.classmates.com site. I have thoroughly
enjoyed these trips down memory lane and look forward to many more, especially
our combined reunion June 20, 2009 with the Class of 64. We're hoping to get the
Class of 62 involved also. I have emailed Tom Turner, but no response yet.
I know he would be a good one to get involved. He seems to know where a lot of
our classmates during our high school years are located. I love the old photos
from Warren Greene Chev.-Olds. Did you see the photo of FVHS that I scanned for
the Classmates.com site? I tried several different annuals and really could not
get any of them to scan very well. I just wanted to make sure we had a photo of
our school on the website. What great memories are held in those
halls!
