One of the premiere clothing stores on Main Street - Edwards Clothing Co. owned by Tom Edwards.

This site on South Macon Street is the humble beginning where Nick Strickland, Sr. started Strickland Hardware in August 1939 "with 3 cases of Coca-Cola".  "Big Nick" expanded his Coke business by selling candy, snuff, individual cigarettes, chewing gum and other snacks purchased from Timberlake Wholesalers. The store created in an alley rented for 50 cents per week.

Visible is a sign that reads Elrod's 5 & 10 Cent Store. This was a side entrance into a L-shaped building which had its main entrance on Main Street.

As Strickland's business grew, the business moved across the street to this location. "Little Nick" joined his Dad and ran this business until 1989, a total of 50 years. The Stricklands rented this building from Charles Evans and later bought the building to the left of this location.

Inside of The Liberty Café located on Main Street. Chris Sakellares, a Greek immigrant ran this store for years with his wife, Dora (behind the counter). This restaurant had a varied menu (see below) but was famous for its hamburgers.

Later this store became the Par-San Men's Store in 1966 and later Khoury's Men's Store in 1987.
